In general, mammography does not require any special preparations. But you should avoid applying powders, lotion, or cream on the skin of your breast.
You will be asked to stand against the mammography machine where the technician will place your breasts on a table attached to it. The technician will then compress your breasts with the help of a paddle to equally spread the tissues.
Then the machine will scan the breasts at different angles to detect the abnormalities. Depending on the information required, the mammography test will last up to 30 minutes.
The X-Ray mechanism is used in the mammography test to examine the breast. So you will be exposed to radiation which is generally safe for the adult.
